3rd of July - 5th of July Helsinki-Tallinn

We collected to the AQ2 together with partly Crew Jaska (steersman), Pekka (deck-officer) and Me (Petri, the skipper) already the 2nd of June to prepare early start to Tallinn.

The idea was to test how the new FINrting works in the reality. As a match we had a X-412 to compare the results.

We agreed to start sometime around 9-10 in the morning and check the Strat time and the arrival time to match the final figures.

We started at 9.08. Xquise started at 9.51.

Wind was quite steady between 8-12 m/s  topping at 15 m/s at highest. Direction was from SW.

The wind forecast expected the wind turn in the afternoon from the more Wetern direction.

We had a good speed from he start, and as expected the wind turned more from west, so we almost managed to reach Aegna, the turning point without turns.

Finally we did one short torn just before Aegna and finalized the trip to Pirita with fair open wind more or less with a medium speed of 7 knots.

Pirita was reached at 16,44. Total time was 7 hours 36 minutes, probably the record time for AquilaDeux. Anyway excellent result, because we mainly sailed against the wind.

The Xquise arrived at 18,44 making our result even sweeter, because she was supposed to be much faster on reality.

We spent fantastic weekend in Tallinn where we sailed back to Helsinki on Sunday the 5th.

Saturday we visited Tallin city to see the local attractions. Late afternoon lunch we enjoyed in a popular part of the City "Telliskivi". Below some images from there.

For the evening we resaved a large hotel suite from Pirita Spa Hotel where we had also access to Sauna.

The trip back we started with sailing, but after the wind turns totally against us and also went down totally, we started the engines (forecast was to have Gail wind in the evening). Not real match with Xquise.

We also had extra sailor while sailing back Markus. We try to train him to our Spinnaker man for the the future as Erkki will resign from the Crew as he purchased his own Swan.

24th June, Evening cruise in Helsinki

My daughters family joined an evening Cruise in Helsinki. Ansel /4 years( had a possibility to steer the Yacht.

We had a pleasant and relaxing day. We enjoyed Salmon filled Bagels as a light dinner.

Coronasummer Starts. 29-30th of May

Start from Loviisa at 16.00. Targeting towards Särkkä.

Fantastic weather, very rare northern winds. Full day very sunny.

Somewhere in Onas we decided to sail towards dr.John's Villa. Where we arrived at midnight.

We enjoyed Sauna and Beer and good company there.

In the morning  of the 30th we got excellent breakfast: Oatmeal and homemade bread with coffee.

After breakfast about 11.00 we continued towards Särkkä that we reached at 14.00.

21sst-22nd of August back to Loviisa for wintering

Happy Crew: Jyrki, Aleksi and the Skipper gathered in Särkkä at 10.00. After necessary set up on the port we set our sails towards Loviisa.

The wind was quite low on the start (3-5 m/s) but it raised so that it was realistic to use sails. Target was to reach Loviisa in one day.

On board we had some meal made by the mothers. Excellent spagetti bolognese and some red wine with it.

Target was reached 20.30 and we had fantastic Dinner made by grand Chef Aleksi.:

- Selected  cheese with potatoes

- Smoked lamb with potatoes and funnel chanterelle-cream sauce

- All sipped down with three bottles of world-class red wines

- Dessert was rum a-la cuba

on Sunday morning our driver collected us back to Helsinki.

This winter there will be grand repairs, next summer Swan regatta in Turku and new adventures.

29th of August. just another office day at the sea...

Just another office day... All the people from the office gathered in Särrkä at 10.00.

We set sails from Särkkä towards Kuninkaansaari strait where we went back to the front of Helsinki.

Small showers experienced, but mainly a foggy day. As a lunch we enjoyed Fish sandwiches from Eriksson fish company.and lovely buns by Gateau artisan bakery brought by Inkeri. 

We took small sightseeing around merisatama with the sails.

Then back to Särkkä.

Anssi the grande chef took care of the ratios. Lot of warm sandwiches eaten and approximately 5 liters red wine tasted.

8.-9th August. Sauna-trip

After a long waiting of engine-service we set the sails and sailed to Sulkaniemi. Juha, Ipu, Per, Elina and Joni joined the skipper.

We started the journey after work and arrived in the evening to Sulkaniemi.

Naturally sauna, beer and sausages were part of the evening program.

The mornings can be extremely beautiful.

Early wake-up on Saturday and we were back at home docks before noon. Thank you pals!
